Arvind Kejriwal is an Indian politician, activist and former bureaucrat, who is serving as the 7th and current Chief Minister of Delhi since 2015, after his first term in the post from 2013 to 2014. He is also the national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party since 2012. He has represented the New Delhi constituency in the Delhi Legislative Assembly since 2015 and from 2013 to 2014.
Before entering politics, Kejriwal had worked in the Indian Revenue Service. Kejriwal is a mechanical engineer from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur.
In 2012, he launched the Aam Aadmi Party. The BJP said on Wednesday that the Aam Aadmi Party is getting "exposed" by the day as it asked the party to come clean on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's alleged involvement in the corruption case involving the city's excise policy.

Meanwhile in another corruption-related matter, Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal on Wednesday skipped for the third time the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate. The BJP accused Kejriwal of not having faith in the country's administrative and judicial system after the AAP leader skipped a third ED summons in connection with an excise policy-linked money laundering case."Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh -- like Kejriwal -- also used to call ED notices wrong but had to appear before the agency. Today, despite efforts, let alone getting bail, they are getting reprimanded in every court," said Virendra Sachdeva, the BJP's Delhi unit chief."The way Kejriwal is avoiding the ED summons clearly shows that he does not have faith in the administrative and judicial system of the country and, after that, the question arises whether he has any moral ground left to remain the chief minister," he alleged.Kejriwal earlier skipped the ED's summonses for November 2 and December 21, calling those "illegal" and "politically motivated". On Wednesday, he sent a written reply to the agency, calling the notice illegal.

On Thursday (4th January), Delhi BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi slammed the ruling AAP government after the LG called for a CBI probe into the fake lab tests at the Aam Aadmi Mohalla clinics in Delhi. The leader said that the AAP was already committing fraud in the liquor policy matter and now it was additionally executing fraud in medicine.
Trivedi based its allegations on the vigilance report published on 23rd December last year. The report exposed the government hospitals in Delhi using inappropriate medicines causing harm to the health of the patients. Delhi Governor V K Saxena also took cognizance of the event and ordered a probe into the matter.
The investigation, based on officials, was required when it was discovered that the doctors assigned to these seven mohalla clinics spread across the South-West, Shahdara, and North-East districts would not show up for duty and would instead record their presence on bio-metric systems using pre-recorded videos. While some doctors would reach the clinics well after others and yet record full attendance, others would skip work entirely.
A further probe of patient data on the orders of the LG exposed how thousands of lab tests were done on ghost patients. These patients were registered using fake or repeated phone numbers, and expensive lab tests were prescribed which are done by two private laboratories in Delhi. In the data taken for just 3 months for 7 mohalla clinics, over 23,000 fake patients with fake phone numbers were detected.
Arvind Kejriwal-ED row highlights: Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday alleged that the Enforcement Directorate sent “false summons” to him in connection with the alleged liquor policy scam.
The statement comes amid intense speculation that Kejriwal could be arrested by the central agency in connection with the case.
Kejriwal declined to appear for questioning on January 3 in the money laundering case linked to alleged irregularities in the Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
The Delhi chief minister cited the notice by the ED as illegal, while asserting his willingness to cooperate while expressing concerns over the alleged intention behind the notice.
The ED had issued a summons to Kejriwal for questioning on January 3 in connection with an excise policy-linked money laundering case. This is the third time Kejriwal has refused to appear before the federal agency. The two earlier summonses were for November 2 and December 21.
In February 2023, then Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI for alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi's new excise policy. The policy was withdrawn amid allegations of foul play by the opposition. AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh was also arrested in the same case in October 2023.
At least 14 people have so far been arrested by the agency, and ED has approached the court seeking permission to investigate AAP as a beneficiary of the “proceeds of crime”.

The neighbourhood clinics, central to AAP's welfare model, have been set up by the Delhi government to provide free primary health care to the people of the capital.
On a recommendation from Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, the Centre has ordered a CBI probe into allegations of fake lab tests and ghost patients at seven of these clinics.
The Union Home Ministry has directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe into alleged corruption in running of several mohalla clinics in Delhi, sources said.
This comes a day after L-G V K Saxena recommended a CBI probe into the matter. Only the digit “0” being entered in the section meant for mobile numbers in 11,657 cases; the space left blank in 8,251 cases; mobile numbers of 3,092 patients entered as 9999999999; 400 mobile numbers beginning with 1,2,3,4 or 5; and the same number being used more than 15 times in around a thousand cases. These are some of the methods allegedly employed at seven mohalla clinics in Delhi to get lakhs of tests conducted on dummy patients, payments for which were made to private diagnostic firms, as per an inquiry by the Vigilance department.
“Data clearly revealed that fake lab tests were carried out at these mohalla clinics that need to be further inquired,” an official from the L-G’s office said.
